Whaleback Wall Shelf




The whaleback shelf is a classic, named for the side profile which resembles a whale breaching the surface of the water. This was very common in colonial New England homes throughout the 18th century used to safely store and display everyday items. This particular shelf is based of an early 18th century example and is tiger maple constructed with sliding dovetail shelfs and hand-cut dovetails on the bottom corners.
