Blissmade offers a no-cost, no-obligation consultation directly with the craftsman who will be making your furniture start-to-finish. Characterized by numerous swirling burls in a distinctive pattern. What causes this phenomenon is unknown but it is exceedingly rare, occurring only in 1/10 of 1% of all maple trees.

AMERICAN CHERRY

The distinctive color and grain pattern of cherry has made it a favorite of American furniture makers for centuries. Finished cherry has a smooth, silky texture and the color deepens as it ages.

TIGER MAPLE

Also known as curly maple, fiddleback maple, or quilted maple.  Characterized by a distortion in the growth of the tree that creates a pattern separate from the grain of the wood.

BLACK WALNUT

One of the most prized American hardwoods. Characterized by its dark chocolate brown color and distinctive grain patterns. Used widely in both American traditional and contemporary furniture.

PREMIUM HARDWOODS

ONLY THE FINEST MATERIALS

We work closely with mills, distributors, and importers to find lumber with superior grain, character, and color. Some of the most desirable wood for furniture making in the world come from New England Forests and whenever possible we try to source our lumber from within 100 miles of our shop. We take great care when arranging lumber to ensure proper grain match, consistent color, and an overall pleasing appearance. When crafting furniture using solely solid hardwood boards, each tree varies in tone, character, and grain, making each piece of furniture truly one of a kind.

TRADITIONAL CONSTRUCTION

TESTED AND PROVEN BY TIME

Traditional joinery relies on the geometry of the joint itself to carry a structural load and will outperform any modern fastening method when cut and fitted properly. The joinery in Blissmade furniture is the same joinery used in furniture hundreds of years old that is still in use today. Using these time-tested construction methods ensures that our furniture will last for generations.
